The Shanty Cafe is a family- and locally-owned coffee shop and cafe located in Darien, GA. Established in 2023, we serve McIntosh County, Glynn County, Camden County, and surrounding areas. The cafe specializes in coffee, espresso, breakfast, lunch, dessert, and more. We offer a pet-friendly patio and dine-in, takeout, to-go, and call ahead ordering. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are also available, making it a great spot for anyone with dietary restrictions. Our Story

Nestled in the charming riverside town of Darien, Georgia, The Shanty Cafe is more than just a place to grab a coffee or a bite to eat—it’s a warm and welcoming hub for the community. Established in 2023, The Shanty Cafe was born out of a heartfelt dream by owner Dana, whose roots run deep in the McIntosh County area. Inspired by a cherished family story, the cafe’s name pays homage to the “Shanty”—an old ice cream parlor where Dana’s grandparents once courted. With this rich family history at its heart, The Shanty Cafe was created with the hope of becoming that same kind of special gathering place for today’s families and friends.

From the moment you walk in, you’ll feel the inviting, cozy atmosphere. Whether it’s the smell of fresh-baked goods wafting from the kitchen, the cheerful baristas behind the counter, or the sound of laughter from guests catching up over breakfast, The Shanty Cafe is full of life and Southern hospitality. Our drink syrups and salad dressings are made in-house with care, and we serve only premium Boar’s Head meats and cheeses in our wraps, sandwiches, and hoagies. Each day brings a fresh “quiche of the day,” and all of our baked goods are lovingly made from scratch.

What a great place! I had the breakfast tacos and they were delicious. My wife had the avocado toast and she loved it. The coffee was great too! I had a frozen latte and my wife had a turtle latte. We had a big party and the girls working there made sure that we were all happy. If you have a chance to eat there make sure that you do.

The Shanty Cafe will surprise you! We went for lunch and enjoyed a couple sandwiches and a house salad with feta cheese and the apple cider dressing, and it was truly delicious. My husband said the chicken salad sandwich was so yummy. The people working are extremely kind and friendly and prompt. Their espresso martinis are delicious, and overall it's just an incredible little spot. It gives warmth and charm.
