The Shanty Cafe is a family- and locally-owned coffee shop and cafe located in Darien, GA. Established in 2023, we serve McIntosh County, Glynn County, Camden County, and surrounding areas. The cafe specializes in coffee, espresso, breakfast, lunch, dessert, and more. We offer a pet-friendly patio and dine-in, takeout, to-go, and call ahead ordering. Our Story
Nestled in the charming riverside town of Darien, Georgia, The Shanty Cafe is more than just a place to grab a coffee or a bite to eat—it’s a warm and welcoming hub for the community. Established in 2023, The Shanty Cafe was born out of a heartfelt dream by owner Dana, whose roots run deep in the McIntosh County area. Inspired by a cherished family story, the cafe’s name pays homage to the “Shanty”—an old ice cream parlor where Dana’s grandparents once courted. With this rich family history at its heart, The Shanty Cafe was created with the hope of becoming that same kind of special gathering place for today’s families and friends.
From the moment you walk in, you’ll feel the inviting, cozy atmosphere. Whether it’s the smell of fresh-baked goods wafting from the kitchen, the cheerful baristas behind the counter, or the sound of laughter from guests catching up over breakfast, The Shanty Cafe is full of life and Southern hospitality. We stopped in Darien during a road trip specifically to eat at a small local spot. Our mistake was we misunderstood the dog policy. The staff was so friendly and accommodating as we sat outside in some drizzling rain with our pup. They made our girl some eggs and our order of pancakes and avocado toast was delicious!!! The patrons proved it's the friendliest town!! Our dog was loved by all and we had no problem sitting on the adorable patio during breakfast. The coffee is wonderful and the service is warm and welcoming!!!

Stopped in for a quick lunch while traveling through Georgia. Small menu, but just what we were looking for- clean, tables to sit & eat. Had a great boars head turkey club sandwich & salad- pear vinaigrette & Greek dressings were amazing.
