The Shanty Cafe is a family- and locally-owned coffee shop and cafe located in Darien, GA. Established in 2023, we serve McIntosh County, Glynn County, Camden County, and surrounding areas. The cafe specializes in coffee, espresso, breakfast, lunch, dessert, and more. We offer a pet-friendly patio and dine-in, takeout, to-go, and call ahead ordering. Our Story
Nestled in the charming riverside town of Darien, Georgia, The Shanty Cafe is more than just a place to grab a coffee or a bite to eat—it’s a warm and welcoming hub for the community. Established in 2023, The Shanty Cafe was born out of a heartfelt dream by owner Dana, whose roots run deep in the McIntosh County area. Inspired by a cherished family story, the cafe’s name pays homage to the “Shanty”—an old ice cream parlor where Dana’s grandparents once courted. With this rich family history at its heart, The Shanty Cafe was created with the hope of becoming that same kind of special gathering place for today’s families and friends.
From the moment you walk in, you’ll feel the inviting, cozy atmosphere. Whether it’s the smell of fresh-baked goods wafting from the kitchen, the cheerful baristas behind the counter, or the sound of laughter from guests catching up over breakfast, The Shanty Cafe is full of life and Southern hospitality. Our drink syrups and salad dressings are made in-house with care, and we serve only premium Boar’s Head meats and cheeses in our wraps, sandwiches, and hoagies. This is an adorable cafe!! What a great discovery as we were travelling south. We had a delicious piece of quiche with a crunchy crust and a soothing cup of coffee. The service was so friendly and the regulars welcomed us to their little coffee shop. We will definitely be back next time we are passing through.
